Short-Term Holder Economic Supply shows how much of the economic supply base is currently held by recent holders, expressed in satoshis. It is the absolute-value STH series, so it measures the size of newer-holder inventory directly rather than its percentage share of the total base.
A rising series means more BTC is sitting with recent holders. A falling series means that newer-holder inventory is aging forward, shrinking, or giving way to older-held supply. It is most useful with LTH Economic Supply and STH Economic Supply Share.
The key distinction is inventory versus composition. The sats chart tells you whether short-term holder supply itself actually changed, while the share chart only tells you whether recent holders became more or less dominant inside the common economic supply base.
