Spent Output Age Bands split daily spent outputs by coin age at the moment of spending. Each band shows the share of spent transaction outputs that had remained unspent for a specific holding period, so the chart is a spent-side activity distribution rather than a held-supply view.
Rising short bands mean recently created outputs are being spent again. Rising older bands mean long-dormant outputs have started moving. It is most useful for identifying which age cohorts are contributing to transaction activity, especially beside SVAB, ASOL, revived-supply thresholds, and HODL Waves.
The key distinction is output count versus spent volume. SVAB weights each band by BTC value, while SOAB counts each spent output equally, regardless of its BTC value. This makes SOAB better for reading breadth of movement, but not the economic weight of the coins being spent.
