Bitcoin Median Outputs per Transaction

Median outputs per transaction, describing the typical output structure of a transaction.

About Median Outputs per Transaction

Median Outputs per Transaction shows the median number of outputs created by Bitcoin transactions on a given day. Half of transactions created fewer outputs than this level and half created more, so it captures the center of the output-count distribution rather than the family’s baseline mean.

A rising median means the typical transaction is becoming more output-heavy. If the average rises while the median does not, the upper-output tail is likely doing most of the work. The series is therefore most useful with Average Outputs per Transaction and Outputs per Transaction (P90).

The main caveat is that median output count is a center-of-distribution measure, not a full summary. It can remain stable while a minority of large multi-output transactions stretches the average. That is why it works best as a companion series rather than a standalone structural read.
